1 Scope

1.1 These requirements cover electric-battery-powered carts designed for a single user for indoor commercial use with respect to a risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury.

1.2 These requirements cover electric-battery-powered carts powered by batteries supplying 42.2 Vac (peak) or 60 Vdc or less.

1.3 The electric-battery-powered cart shall be equipped with no less than 3 wheels, not including anti-tip devices.

1.4 The maximum speed shall not exceed 3 mph (4.8 kph).

1.5 These requirements do not cover electric-battery-powered carts intended for recreational, residential or industrial use.

1.6 The requirements do not cover electric-battery-powered carts for use in hazardous locations.
