This procedure tests the<br \/>\nability of the component to<br \/>\nwithstand changes in temperature of the surrounding atmosphere that<br \/>\nmay be encountered during<br \/>\noperation. The simulation of temperature shock testing is covered in<br \/>\nFOTP-71 (EIA-455-71),<br \/>\n&#034;Procedure to Measure Temperature Shock Effects on Fiber Optic<br \/>\nComponents.&#034;(Footnote 1)<\/p>\n<p>Typical indications of damage resulting from this test are:<\/p>\n<p>A. An excessive temporary or permanent change in optical throughput<br \/>\nwhich exceeds specified limits<br \/>\nas defined in the Detail Specification.<\/p>\n<p>B. Broken parts, cracks, blisters in materials or accessories.<\/p>\n<p>C. Inability to mate or unmate, if sample is a connector.<\/p>\n<p>D.
