CSA Preface<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the first edition of CSA C22.2 No. 62986, Plugs, socket-outlets and couplers with arcuate contacts<\/em>, which is an adoption, with Canadian deviations, of the identically titled IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Standard 62986 (first edition, 2017-09). It is one in a series of Standards issued by CSA Group under Part II of the Canadian Electrical Code. At the time of publication, IEC 62986:2017 is available from IEC in English only. CSA Group will publish the French version when it becomes available from IEC.<\/p>\n

This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group.<\/p>\n

Scope<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This document sets the general and dimensional interchangeability requirements for plugs, socket-outlets, connectors and appliance inlets with arcuate contacts of standardized configurations (hereinafter referred to as accessories), with a rated operating voltage not exceeding 600 V AC at a frequency of 50 Hz and 60 Hz and with rated currents of 20 A and 30 A, primarily intended for commercial use indoors, in conditions where the presence of water is negligible.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This document applies to accessories for use when the ambient temperature is normally within the range of \u201325 \u00b0C to +40 \u00b0C. These accessories are intended to be connected to cables of copper or copper alloy only.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Interchangeability requirements are defined for IP20 accessories.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

NOTE The conditions of use indoors are based on the limitations given by IEC 60364-5-51:2005, Table 51A, AD1.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n
