This International Standard deals with the safety of electric portable appliances for household purposes that have a cooking function such as baking, roasting and grilling, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V. <\/p>\n
NOTE 101 Examples of appliances that are within the scope of this standard are
\u2013 barbecues for indoor use;
\u2013 bread makers;
\u2013 contact grills (griddles);
\u2013 cookers;
\u2013 food dehydrators;
\u2013 hotplates;
\u2013 portable ovens;
\u2013 raclette grills;
\u2013 radiant grills;
\u2013 roasters;
\u2013 rotary grills;
\u2013 rotisseries;
\u2013 toasters;
\u2013 waffle irons; <\/p>\n
Examples are illustrated in Figure 101. <\/p>\n
As far as is practicable, this standard deals with the common hazards presented by appliances that are encountered by all persons in and around the home. However, in general, it does not take into account <\/p>\n
\u2013 the use of appliances by young children or infirm persons without supervision; <\/p>\n
\u2013 playing with the appliance by young children. <\/p>\n
NOTE 102 Attention is drawn to the fact that
\u2013 for appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary;
\u2013 in many countries additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities, the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour and similar authorities. <\/p>\n
