This document specifies a descriptive framework for a city including an associated foundational ontology of the anatomical structure of a city or community. The descriptive framework is intended to have the following qualities:<\/p>\n
timeless<\/i>, i.e. compatible with any human settlement at any time in history;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n acultural<\/i>, i.e. valid for any culture and any type of city;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n scalable<\/i>, i.e. valid for a metropolis, a city, a small town or a village;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n generic<\/i>, so that everything we could define as a \u201chuman settlement\u201d, such as a \u201csmart city\u201d, has a place in this structure.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Sustainable cities and communities.
