This report compares codes and standards for the design of piping systems in power plants, from the following countries: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Holland, Norway and Sweden. The comparison applies to fossil and non-safety nuclear power plant piping standards (the equivalent of today's ASME B31/1) and, where they exist, to nuclear safety class power plant piping standards (the equivalent of today's ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Section III).

The review focuses on design equations for the sizing and stress qualification of power piping. Differences in materials and construction are not addressed. Section 2 provides a comparison overview and specific codes and standards are reviewed in Sections 3 to 10.
