This Standard specifies the requirements, test and inspection concerning the safety and performance of luminaires for road lighting provided mainly for road vehicle traffic and installed at a height of 6 m or more using the electric light source of not more than AC 1 000 V in supply voltage.

The luminaires for road lighting here refer to the luminaires installed at the lighting pole, etc. arranged along a road, and do not include luminaires used for a tunnel, etc. and luminaires for street lighting etc. installed mainly at a height of less than 6 m.
