This document describes the principles of defining the design sea conditions, including design water level variability for structures in the coastal area. This document describes the design principles of determining actions from waves and currents of the following types in the coastal structures zone: \u2014 fixed structures: \u2014 cylindrical structures; \u2014 suspended decks; \u2014 sub sea pipelines; \u2014 breakwaters: \u2014 mound breakwaters; \u2014 vertical face breakwaters; \u2014 composite breakwaters; \u2014 wave screens; \u2014 floating breakwaters; \u2014 coastal embankments: \u2014 revetments; \u2014 seawalls; \u2014 permanent moored floating structures. For floating structures additional guidance would normally be needed for: \u2014 floating platforms related to oil and gas production or processing; \u2014 floating platforms for renewable energy production. The scope of this document is outside flood risk management structures like dykes or levees.
