The procedure uses a portable skidded or non-skidded stylus profile tracing instrument. The three measured characteristics are: Rt, Rmax, and Pc.<\/p>\n<p>1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.<\/p>\n<p>1.3 In general, this method should be limited to the measurement of surface roughness where Rmax is in the range 10 to 150 m (0.4 to 6 mil) and where the Peak Count, Pc, is less than 180 peaks\/cm (450 peaks\/in.).<\/p>\n<p>This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.
