The proportion of shear reacted by the tension can<br \/>\nbe found using ESDU 77018. Data, based largely on a correlation of<br \/>\nexperimental information, enable the following to be determined:<br \/>\nmaximum shear stress at plate failure at a buckle or at the rivet<br \/>\nline, compressive stress in the stiffener, end load and bending<br \/>\nmoment acting on the flanges as a result of the diagonal tension<br \/>\nfield, the loading along the flange-to-plate connection, and the<br \/>\nsecant and tangent moduli of the panel.
