1.1 This British Standard provides a specification for a general purpose davit with a safe working load of 2 tonnes and outreaches of 1 500 mm and 2 250 mm.

NOTE 1 These davits are not intended for use with life saving appliances.

NOTE 2 The shipbuilder shall ensure that the deck structure in the region of the davit is adequate to withstand the loading expected to be imposed.

Design, construction, marking, inspection and tests required for a safe working load of 2 tonnes using either 1500 or 2250 mm outreach.
